About ANIIMS

Established in 2006 under the visionary leadership of the Government of India, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) stands as the premier medical institution in the archipelago. Our integrated campus houses a 450-bed tertiary care teaching hospital and a state-of-the-art medical college.

Our mission is threefold: to deliver comprehensive, affordable healthcare to the residents of the islands; to produce competent, compassionate medical professionals through rigorous undergraduate and postgraduate programs; and to conduct meaningful research addressing the unique health challenges of tropical island populations, including vector-borne diseases, marine toxicology, and remote healthcare delivery.
